Summary: This research aims to approach the art production of the artist Artur Barrio, locating his production within the historical movement of conceptual art. The artist sought unconventional forms of expression and language to work in the artistic and cultural milieu of the 1960s and 1970s. When creating his first situations, Artur Barrio drew attention for his radicalism and originality. With the objective of promoting a break with the traditionalism used in the artistic environment. Barrio contested the use of expensive materials and traditional art spaces such as museums and galleries, expanding the field of arts, appropriating ephemeral circuits and materials, without affiliating to any group or movement of the time. The ephemeral materials were his raw material and the ―Situações‖ were performed on the streets of the city, which culminated in the Work Process 4 days 4 nights, a radical, subjective experience devoid of any records, WHERE the artist uses his own supporting body, and , by not establishing a limit of action, he flirts with death. The reception and circulation of this work takes place through the artist`s reports, whose content is accessed through his memory. These reports allow us to understand, even partially, your process in 4 days 4 nights. Thus, we intend to emphasize the artist`s production in line with the artistic and cultural context of the time and aspects of the work 4 days 4 nights, which makes it a watershed in the artist`s production.
