Summary: Aiming to explore plastically manipulated photography, this study intends to argue photographic-philosophic concepts such as manipulation, reality, simulation, index, acting, materiality and reproducibility in order to learn more about (step into) the images upon which we concentrate the research. We analyze the changes in Art based on which the worship value in resplaced by the exposition value creating a new way to enoy, produce and study Art. Based on these conceepts we investigate manipulations on plotography from the following artists moviments: Pictorialism and its search for na artistic statute for photographic imagery through the pictorial changes on this negatives; Russian Constructivism and its application on the Russian Revolution the Soviet states advertising tool, and a critique to the Nazi party; Dadaist which rises during the interwar period in Europe, based on chaos and disorder,
taking down sarcastically the traditional ways of art; Surrealism, which began with Breton , the writer, and was also inpired on Freuds insights on psychoanalysis and the awakening of the primitive unconscious of man. Comparing the results obtained form analog processes utilized by the vanguards through analog technology were emulated with the use of the available functions of Photoshop, a computer software available functions of Photoshop and its digital tools: based on what was already known, the form of modifying images images was imitated on software to facilite its use and to promote its commercialization. Processes that
took a long amount of time to elaborate according to the artists intent and the objectives of the movement, along with the high cost (in the past) demanded for the acquisition of the necessary matterials now start to be reproduced in a computers interface in a short amount of
time, utilizing only keyboard shortcuts and vision. The possibillities were multiplied, attending to the artistic needs of the digital society, WHERE the outcome must be synchronized with the landmarks of the contemporary culture. Key words: Photography; manipulation; Photoshop.
