Summary: The thesis investigates technical images, regarding primary to the development of these images alongside with the social and political events of the humankind during the periods referred by the philosopher Vilém Flusser as prehistory, history and post-history. Through a historical analytical approach, we research the most important events, how they occurred and events were important in each period, and finally, what were their aftereffects in social life, and consequently, in the artistic practices. Then we directed the study to the prehistoric period to analyze how the photograph – the first technical image – was introduced in contemporary art as an independent practice. The final part of this research was a study of the production of three artists of the post-historic period: Jan Dibbets and Thomas Demand; their artistic production gives us an idea of the expansion of the possibilities of the Technical Images.
