Summary: This research discusses the clash between the modern and the contemporary, and will try to show how the emergence of the artistic installation becomes an essentially genre of the achievements of artists who worked the concept of sound art. In this sense, this dissertation will have at its core the movements that were at their peak in the 1950s until 1970 , such as minimalism and pop art, and, particularly, experimental music. So, our starting point is the emergence of the art installation, through the pioneers of experimental music to reach the contemporary artists who use sound as a language. We deal mainly with historical and scenic characters, aiming to show not only the process creation of sound art, but the way in which it ran, its impact and its
relevance to contemporary art.
