Summary: In a broad sense, this research is interested in the interrelationship Art / Writing and its developments in recent Brazil. Mentioning that between the 1950s and 1960s, Brazilian artists and poets were influenced by the experimental propositions of the French poet Stéphane Mallarmé (1842-1898). This influence resulted in the Concrete, Neoconcrete movements and the Brazilian Concrete Poetry. These artistic events caused the hybridization of art and writing, as well as the emergence of the book as art in the country. Driven by the desire to understand this period of Brazilian Art, our studies focus on the creative process of the hybrid work of the capixaba artist Hilal Sami Hilal (1952-). Emphasizing his peculiar writing and the artist's relationship with materiality, the research focuses on the production of works on handmade paper and copperplate. The aim is to evoke new possibilities of reading his work with the writing. In order to do so, some similarities between the symbolic elements of his work and some concepts of contemporary theorists are proposed. From these similarities, some comparatist analysis between Hilal’s book Livro Redondo (2005) and two visual poems with circular shapes are drawn. These are: O Ovo (sec III BC.), Simias de Rodes, and Ovonovelo (1955), Augusto de Campos.
