Summary: The present research poses a series of questions inherent to contemporary drawing and delves into strategies for its construction. The chosen temporal framework spans from the 1960s to the 1970s, a period marked by intense experimentation and the development of artistic practices and knowledge in Brazil. This framework seeks to comprehend the connections and/or intersections of drawing with three-dimensional practice. The artistic works of Lygia Clark, Hélio Oiticica, Cildo Meireles, Lygia Pape, and Mira Schendel are taken as starting points for analysis. These artists played significant roles in the process of shifting drawing from the plane of the line, which previously existed solely on paper in two-dimensional space, to three-dimensional space. Within this context, the research aims to understand how the body is called upon to participate in the construction of drawing in space. To a great extent, the research's objective is to analyze how the planned artists contributed to the development of contemporary drawing, which began to transcend two-dimensional limitations and started to encompass space and viewer interaction. By exploring the works of these artists and their innovative approaches, the research aims to shed light on how drawing began to manifest itself in a broader and more engaging context. In this manner, the study intends to provide an in-depth look at the changes and progressions of drawing over the selected period, emphasizing how the incorporation of real space and body participation influenced its trajectory and development towards what we now call contemporary drawing.
