Summary: This dissertation is the result of a research that develops the conceptualization of the term “female transgressor body” from the investigative study of the construction of domestic violence practiced against women and the use of art as a possibility of problematizing and confronting this social plot/drama. The initial context of the proposal was written based on observation and studies related to social practices (on which we are still established) that helped in the construction of domestic violence practiced against women, and that within the process of this research, it was counted against from excerpts taken from the work Casa Grande & Senzala written by the sociologist Gilberto Freyre in 1933. To give a coherent meaning to the proposal to use arte as a possibility to face violence against women, the second chapter is constructed from the interpretative analyzes of some works by four women artists - Artemísia Gentilesch (1593-1656?), Nice Nascimento Avanza (1938-1999), Rosana Paulino (1967-) and Sarah Lucas (1962-) – who, despite experiencing in different contexts, times and places, corroborate in this work, with questions of problematizations and confrontations inherent to this social plot/drama. Finally, from studies with Simone De Beauvoir (1949) and Foucault (1963 and 1997) the term female transgressor body was conceptualized, listing in this part of the dissertation the entire coping process created by the author to externalize the stigmas that domestic violence suffered for more than twenty years had left in this body.
