Summary: The story between Rio de Janeiro, the blacks and the Capoeira, so closely tied when we consider these elements part of an arrangement. This junction between these three point produces narratives about facts and events surrounding the social, political and cultural movements. The present study tried to speak about the historicity of capoeira in Rio de Janeiro in the period 1821 to 1929. This survey was designed and executed from the possibility of making the records of identifiable images as reliable historical source,
therefore affirming the arts as a field of scientific knowledge. Thus, a visual narrative, so to speak, of 52 figures in order to connect in a chronological order through touching events to capoeira, directly or indirectly. Following the course of the Story by Art denounced a speech act as capoeira gradually will no longer marginal content to become healthy habit and morally acknowledged by the bourgeois elite. The intention of narrating the past, got so empirical, a methodological hermeneutics recognizing Historicism as pertinent in the dissertation. The language of the arts was in balance within this historical narrative and state our vocation, indicting paradigm research. The
images used for the textual construction of this visual storytelling started from a common field imagery of Visual Arts. The text maintains the readings of the images were removed from the field of sociology and brazilian History.
