Summary: The 1960s were marked by major changes. Categorizations interspersed with the field of art were flexibilized and practices that allowed reconfiguring the role of the spectator in the works and artistic exhibitions were instituted. In this scenario of major modifications, the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto began the production of the Quadri specchianti (Mirror Paintings), a series of pictorial and/or photographic images superimposed on mirrored surfaces. The set of relations, proposed by Pistoletto, through the elements chosen to compose the works, indicate the intention to carry out an interactive process
loaded with complexity, which became the starting point for reaching the objective of this research: to investigate and to discuss participation of the spectator. In order to achieve the purpose presented, and also to approach, more accurately, aspects related to the works, the reflections were extended to include the institutional relations of the artist, the poetics of creation of works and certain changes occurred in the process of interaction of the public after the popularization of photography and social media. Keywords: Pistoletto, Michelangelo. Social media. Photography. Creation (Literary,
artistic, etc.)
