Summary: The research that follows, aims to analyze the processes of belonging and memory in the construction of the cultural practice of Afro-Brazilian tradition caxambu, which is planted by the state of Espírito Santo and leaves its mark in the southern region of Capixaba, territory of the caxambu groups of the " Horizonte "and "Andorinha" caxambu, subjects of this dissertation. In observing the practice of cultural tradition based on the narratives and experiences of the groups, the present dissertation points out the caxambu as a fundamental element in the process of belonging of these subjects, WHERE cultural maintenance and the process of safeguarding the caxambu permeate the recognition of tradition as an element Of socio-cultural reinsertion and affirmation of the constituent elements of the black culture in the region. In approaching the concepts of collective memory and territoriality, ethnographic research in a relational approach investigates the hypothesis of the groups constituting a single origin - "Fazenda do Horizonte", a place identified by the research as a memory path and point of reference. The formation of groups. Such a singular origin is suggested by the processes of deterritorialization and reterritorialisation experienced by the families that inhabited the Horizon Farm and which were the tradition of the caxambu. When experiencing such processes, tradition gains a new meaning, embodied in the caxambu Horizon group and opens the way to a new territorialization, identified here by the caxambu group of Andorinha. Such groups are articulated in the consolidation of tradition based on the sense of unity of the communities in which the practice of caxambu presents itself. Finally, the research, focusing on the symbolic dimensions of the caxambu groups of "Horizonte" and "Andorinha", from the practice and the personalization of their actions, presents the strategies of action that groups establish to keep the tradition alive Making a new look at cultural tradition, constituting itself as a form and space of resistance, struggle and organization of Afro-Brazilian culture in the region.Keyword: Caxambu.
